一、学校简介
华南师范大学创建于1933年，是一所文、理、工等学科齐全的省属重点大学，是广东省属高校中唯一的一所国家“211”工程重点建设大学。目前华南师范大学拥有石牌、南海、大学城三个校区，共有24个学院（含一个独立二级学院）和一个学系，69个本科专业，123个硕士学位授权专业、55个博士学位授权专业。
The university was founded in 1933 and now it is a comprehensive university of Guangdong Province, covering Humanities, Science, Economics, Administrations, Technology, Art and Physical Education. It is the only province-affiliated 211 Project university. The university has 24 colleges (including one independent college), and offers 69 undergraduate majors, 123 master's programs and 55 doctorial programs
华南师范大学从1987年开始外国留学生。现每年接受来自世界40多个国家一千多名留学生来校学习，其中有博士生、硕士生、本科生、普通进修生、高级进修生、短期留学生和访问学者。
The university is one of the first universities that were approved by China’s Ministry of Education to teach Chinese as a foreign language to provide government scholarships to international students. Hundreds of international students from over 40countries study in SCNU every year, including PhDs, masters, bachelors, non-degree students, advanced visiting scholars, short-term overseas students and visiting scholars.

本科生、硕士生、博士生、普通进修生、高级进修生、访问学者、短期留学生。

留学生来华南师范大学学习有以下选择：
Study options for international students in SCNU:
（1） 本科、硕士或博士等学历教育项目； bachelor, master or PhD programs.
（2） 进修汉语或其他专业的短期项目（非学历教育）；Chinese study or other majors (non-degree education)
（3） 参加不足一学年的短期培训。short-term training within one academic year.
申请者须为年满18周岁的非中国籍公民，身体健康，品行良好，愿意遵守中国政府的法律和学校的规章制度，尊重中国人民的风俗习惯。Applicants should be non-Chinese permanent residents who reach the age of 18. Applicants are expected to be healthy, well-behaved, willing to obey PRC’s laws and SCNU’s regulations and paying respect to Chinese custom and habits.
学制：本科学制四年，硕士学制三年，博士项目学制三年。
Educational system: Four-year study load for bachelors, three-year study load for masters, three-year study load for PhD.
本科：学习期限四至六年，修满规定的学分，完成学位论文或毕业设计，可获毕业证书和学位证书。
Bachelor: Study load can be extended from four to six years. Students will receive Graduate Certificate and Degree Certificate after getting requested credits and finishing academic dissertation.
硕士：学习期限三至五年，修满学分，完成学位论文，答辩通过。可获毕业证书和硕士学位证书。
Master: Study load can be extended from three to five years. Graduate Certificate and Master Degree Certificate can be obtained after getting requested credits, finishing academic dissertation and passing dissertation defense.
博士：学习期限三至八年，修满学分，取得一定的科研成果，完成博士学位论文，答辩通过，可获毕业证书和博士学位证书。
PhD: Study load can be extended from three to eight years. Graduate Certificate and PhD Degree Certificate can be obtained after getting requested credits, finishing academic dissertation, and passing dissertation defense.
高级进修生：已获得硕士学位，在华南师范大学教授指导和合作下，从事专题研究或研修专业知识，通常在校期限为一年，可视情况申请延长。学习期满后发给进修证书。
Advanced visiting scholars: Those who have received master degree, under the instruction and cooperation of professors at SCNU, engage in professional study and research of advanced knowledge. It will normally take one year, but can be extended. Research Certificate will be issued after finishing requested study load.
普通进修生：已获得本科一年级以上的学历，按规定选修华南师范大学本科生课程或进修汉语，学习期满后发给进修证书。普通进修生的学习期限通常为一年。
Ordinary visiting scholar: Those who have received at least one-year bachelor study, according to regulations, can enroll in bachelor courses of SCNU or study of Chinese language. Related certificate will be issued after finishing requested study load which is normally one year.
访问学者：已取得博士学位或副教授以上职位，使用华南师范大学资料和信息，与华南师范大学的合作教授一起，就某一科学专题进行研究。被接受为访问学者，通常需要在华南师范大学有对应的合作联系教授，否则申请可能不被接受。访问学者的申请时间和期限比较灵活，可以随时申请，学习期限可以是一个学期、学年或几个月。
Visiting scholar: Those who have received PhD degree or associate professor title, can work with cooperative professors of SCNU on certain subjects. The eligible visiting scholar should have cooperative professors at SCNU, otherwise, the application will not be approved. Application time and deadline is flexible. Study load can be a semester, an academic year or several months.
学期（年）: 华南师范大学每学年分春、秋两个学期，秋季学期是新学年的开始，一般从9月至下一年的1月，春季学期一般从2月开始至7月初。每学年有寒假和暑假，通常为两个月，寒假较短，为3-4周，通常与中国的春节假日相连。
Semester (Academic year): There are two semesters which are in spring and autumn respectively in one academic year. New academic year starts from autumn semester which is from September to January next year. Spring semester starts from February to early July. Normally, winter and summer vacations combined are two months. Winter vacation is shorter, which is three to four weeks together with Chinese traditional Spring Festival.
对汉语水平的要求 Requirement for Chinese Language Proficiency
1.普通进修生如申请到院系选课学习，汉语水平必须达到一定的要求，文科3级以上，理科6级以上。未达到要求的，可以到国际文化学院补习汉语。
If successfully enrolled in courses of schools, an ordinary visiting scholar should meet certain requirements of Chinese language proficiency. Those who enrolled in Art need meet level 3 Chinese language proficiency, while level 6 is required for those enrolled in Science. Classes of Chinese language are offered in CIC for the applicants who have not met the requirement.
2.本科生、硕士研究生和博士研究生的汉语水平要求在录取时要确定。
Make clear Chinese language proficiency before enrolment for bachelors, masters and PhDs.
3.对高级进修生和访问学者没有强制的汉语要求，但必须同指导教授进行正常的语言交流.
There is no compulsory requirement for advanced visiting scholars and research scholars, but they should be able to communicate with advising professors. 录取进度信息 Enrolment processing information
自申请日期截止，到录取信息发布需要8周以上的时间。在此期间我们将会通知您补齐所有的申请材料，对已经齐全的材料进行审阅和评价，组织必要的考试。审核通过后，我们将会发给您录取通知书及相关的材料。
It takes eight weeks or more from application deadline to issue enrolment information. During this period, application materials replenishment will be notified, review and assessment of the materials will be processed and necessary exams will be organized. After approval, confirmation of enrolment and related materials will be sent to the applicants.
关于医疗保险 Medicare
华南师范大学要求，留学生在学期间必须有医疗保险。留学生所购买的医疗保险至少要包括意外伤害和住院医疗两个险种。留学生可以在来华之前购买医疗保险，也可以到校后自行购买。
According to SCNU, international students must have health insurance during their stay in SCNU. Insurance must at least cover accident insurance and hospitalization which can be bought before or after arrival.
办理来华手续 Visa Application
已获得我校留学资格的留学生，请持《录取通知书》、《外国留学人员来华签证申请表》（JW201或JW202表）的原件和复印件，以及本人的有效普通护照到中国大使馆或总领事馆申请来华学习签证。其中来华学习时间超过六个月者，须申请“X”签证；学习时间不满六个月者，须申请“F”签证。留学生必须持上述各项文件的原件来我校报到。
For applicants who have been admitted by SCNU, please apply for a student visa in China embassy or consulate general with Confirmation of Enrolment, Visa Application Form( Form JW201 or JW202) and valid passport. “X” Visa is for the applicants who will study more than six months in China, while “F” Visa is for those who will study less than six months. International students should bring all the above materials to register.
